"I left Mastodon yesterday"
In fine Mastodon storming-off tradition, I've written a flipping long Medium post.

@cassolotl ok I managed to get through to the part about his view on the project is only „white male cisgender“.
Fitting the “cisgender” profile myself I can assure you that if you are a really good listener you can actually get your head around the viewpoints of people who aren’t “white male cisgender”. I can’t speak for Eugen, as is don’t know if he is capable of that, but personally I was offended that apparently I’m not capable of empathy based on my entitlement?
@cassolotl I am capable of empathy and changing my point of view, provided the person explains their experiences understandably. But to disregard those capabilities for all those people based on just on stereotype is not really anything else than entitled cisgenders judging over you.
@cassolotl (and I bookmarked your post for reading on later because I like your writing and it’s interesting to get your viewpoint on the debate about mastodon
)
@aledjones I implore you to read the full article. You are falling into the same trap as Gargon and will continue to until you learn to recognize your own personal shortcomings
@aledjones from one "white male cisgender" to another, if that's what you took from the article, then you might have to add "reading comprehension" _and_ "empathy" to your list of things to improve about yourself
@cassolotl It's really sad to see that the fediverse made you unhappy.
@cassolotl @Anna Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... I am more and more feeling completely lost all along these lines. From one point of view I understand some of the issues outlined here, but then again: Compared to GNOME, the Linux kernel, KDE, ..., mastodon still at least seems a somewhat smaller project. Right here, it seems the level of unwillingness to actually work in consensus on a shared project seems incredibly high. What's wrong with everyone? Where's a culture of compromise to resolve such conflicts??
@z428 The Golden Mean is not and never will be the answer. It's one project director and a community of thousands. 50:50 does not work here
@HihiDanni No, of course not, but in the end, no matter which model of governance might be adopted, at some point it will boil down to someone making a decision that is applauded by some and (possibly deeply) opposed by others.It will, however, require everyone to accept her/his opinion and input to be rejected for the sake of reaching a certain goal. If this doesn't work, nothing will.

Sorry to see you go. I wish I could contribute to #ForkOffTogether, but I'm already overextended.
@cassolotl Thanks for writing out your thoughts and feelings about why you left, that was a very informative and well thought out article. I am sorry Mastodon has let you down. If you have linux you might want to try out secure scuttlebutt. Your network only really consists of people you follow, although it still likely has a development diversity problem.
LB: "A little maturity from gargron, a long shot I know..." This is a recurring theme in everyone's Mastodon critiques hmmm 🤔
@cassolotl sad to see you go, thank you for writing this and for all the great input you contributed over the time you were here
@noiob Thank you. :) <3 I'm glad I follow you on Twitter!
@cassolotl I will miss you being on here, but I understand. (Especially after reading the post.)
@cassolotl sorry to see you go. 😕
@cassolotl sad to see you go.. you've pretty eloquently described a lot of my misgivings about how the project is run. (though I don't think I'll ever go back to Twitter personally)
best wishes
@cassolotl I’m sorry to see you go, but I would also like to thank you for writing about the issues because it was a good sum up of the situation for those of us who weren’t aware of the way the project was being managed. Thank you
@Mwenyi Thank you for saying so, I appreciate it. :)
@cassolotl I'll definitely miss your presence in here.
@cassolotl I will really miss you around here. Your contributions were always welcome to me and you helped improve a lot of stuff around :)
Hope to see you back at some point, but I followed you on the birdsite in the meantime ;)
@cassolotl
Idem. I'll really miss you around here
@maryjane @renatolond @cassolotl yeah, ill miss him, but i disagree with his dogmatic position... if you really want to make an impact and change anything you should stick around and push for it! anywayzzz thanks for all @cassolotl
LB: These are very important points IMO; Communication is at the core of any good design/development effort, and whenever the communication fails, the project is damaged.
